Land Clearing & Forestry Mulching in the Texas Hill Country
Selective clearing, cedar removal, and mulching that opens up your land without stripping it bare.
Most Hill Country properties don’t need to be scraped to dirt. They need the cedar, brush, and underbrush taken out so you can see the land again, while the oaks and the trees worth keeping stay right where they are.
That’s how Tierra Linda Services approaches land clearing. We clear selectively, grub out what needs to come out by the roots, and mulch the rest back into the ground with forestry mulchers instead of hauling it off or burning it. Whether it’s a homesite, a fence line, a view you want opened up, or hundreds of acres of overgrown ranch land, you end up with property you can actually use.

What We Clear
Every property is different, so we start by asking what you want the land to do when we’re finished. From there, the work usually includes some mix of:
- Cedar (Ashe juniper) removal to open up views, pasture, and oak canopy
- Underbrush and thicket mulching beneath trees you want to keep
- Homesite and building-site clearing ahead of a pad, barn, or shop
- Fence line clearing so a new fence can go in straight and stay maintained
- Selective clearing and grubbing, removing stumps and roots where the ground needs to be worked
- Large-acreage brush management on ranch land
Why Forestry Mulching
Forestry mulching cuts and grinds standing brush and trees in place. The mulch stays on the ground, where it helps hold soil in place on slopes and keeps it from washing away in the next hard rain. There are no burn piles sitting for months and no trucks hauling debris down your road.
When the plan calls for building, mulching alone isn’t always enough. A future foundation or road needs the roots out, too. That’s why our first question is always about your goal: mulch where it makes sense, and fully clear and grub where you’re going to build, so you don’t pay twice to fix the same ground.

How a Clearing Project Works
- Onsite visit. We walk the property with you, mark the trees you want to keep, and talk through what comes next on that ground.
- Straight answer on scope and cost. You’ll know your options and the real cost before we move any dirt.
- Clearing. We bring equipment sized to the job, from skid steers with mulching heads to excavators for grubbing.
- Next steps, if you want them. Many clearing jobs lead straight into a road, a pad site, a fence, or a pond. We can handle those too, so one crew carries the project from brush to finished.
What Affects the Cost of Land Clearing
Every property prices differently. The biggest factors are:
- How dense the brush and cedar are, and how large the trees are
- Total acreage, and whether it’s selective clearing or a full clear
- Terrain, slope, and how much rock is in the ground
- Whether stumps and roots need to come out (grubbing) or can be mulched at grade
- Access for equipment

Frequently Asked Questions
Will you leave the trees I want to keep?
Yes. Selective clearing is the point. We walk the property with you before we start and work around the oaks and other trees you want to keep.
What happens to the cleared brush?
With forestry mulching, it’s ground up and left on site as mulch, which protects the soil. Where we’re grubbing for a building site or road, we handle the stumps and debris as part of the job.
Can you clear land for a new house or barn?
Yes. We clear and grub the building area and can take the project straight into site work and grading so the pad is ready for your builder.
Do you clear fence lines?
Yes. We clear fence lines on everything from small tracts to full ranches, so a new fence can go in and stay maintained.
